Gerald "Jerry" Lawson (b. December 1, 1940- d. April 9, 2011) was an inventor and engineer most known for creating the Channel-F Video gaming console released in 1976 by Fairchild Semiconductor.
The Channel-F system was the first to separate the game itself from the console, thereby creating an industry. All other gaming consoles created after 1976 used cartridges based on Mr. Lawson's invention.
Prior to the Channel-F, gaming consoles were only as useful as the games that were programmed into the hard drives.
